Nothing beats a well-made, perfectly-fitted racerback tank top for summer. Anine Bing nailed this one, and I find myself reaching for it over and over, which is why it’s included in the summer capsule wardrobe. This can serve as the base for so many cute summer style outfits, or happily be worn alone tucked into a pair of great jean shorts with sandals. AYR (which stands for All Year Round) has quickly become my new favorite go-to for clean classics. No summer wardrobe is complete without a blue and white stripe button down, and this top called The Deep End is the epitome of that. Linen blazers will be your saving grace for all things business-casual during the summertime. They look just as sharp and sophisticated as your fall/winter blazers, but aren’t nearly as heavy, which makes them the perfect piece of outerwear for summer meetings in hot temperatures. French blue is the color of the season as far as I’m concerned, so this midi-length, smocked daydream dress by J.Crew was an immediate add to my summer capsule wardrobe. The length plus the subtle slit in front allows your legs to breathe while you show off this simple yet elegant linen day dress. It’s an instant classic.

Every summer capsule wardrobe needs a pair of dressy white shorts. Not just white denim, but with something much more to them so they can be dressed up or down easily. These belted, cotton and linen twill shorts by VINCE are some of the best dressier white shorts I’ve found in years, so they had to be included in the capsule. They fit so well and look fantastic whether you pair them with a tank top or t-shirt, or go bigger with a fun blouse.

This is for all the tall girls. Finally, after years of searching, I’ve found a pair of wide leg pants that don’t awkwardly hit mid-ankle. These pleated wide-leg pants by Loulou Studio fit so well, aren’t see-through and are made from a luxe blend of 85% viscose and 15% linen. Of course, if you fall in love with these and you aren’t tall, these can be altered easily! I will be wearing these all summer when jeans sound too hot and when I need a break from dresses or shorts.
