Back by popular demand! The 2024 spring capsule wardrobe is here! Thank you for being patient while I fine-tuned the selected items. If you've been following me for a while you know I've been creating capsule wardrobes for years. I started this collage-style format back Fall 2021 (in 2019 I was shooting pictures of me in each look) and over the past few seasons you guys have requested the looks to be photographed on me again. So I'm kicking off the spring capsule with collage-style ideas AND outfits styled on myself. I will continue to shoot more spring capsule looks from here out and add to my daily looks, LTK, and this post. So make sure you are checking back for updates.
Further, since I have been creating these capsules for a few years, by now you all should have a good wardrobe foundation of essentials. Some of the pieces featured in Fall 2021 are still on a weekly rotation for me. Those pieces should be mixed in with the new spring capsule items. Consider those your core items. The capsule pieces are now to be used to sprinkle in and make your closet feel current, updated, and fresh. There are ways to mix in these new pieces with the core items you have in your close that still feel YOU. For example the vest is making a big come back this year and not everyone will style the same. I'm showing you how I would personally style the vest for spring, but you may want to style it with your fool-proof denim and favorite heels and that's EXACTLY what you should do.
At the end of this post you can find last year's spring capsule, which in my opinion, has a lot of great core pieces. I will be working on a master blog post that has all closet essentials (core items) for you to refer back to. Either for building a strong wardrobe or looking to update some items. The goal is for these posts to be a resource for you when it comes to how to get dressed for the spring season, what outfits to pack for spring travel, and how to feel confident in creating updated outfits using pieces you already feel confident in.

Ivory Blazer
This gorgeous ivory blazer from MAYSON the label breaks the boundaries of the menswear classic for the more femme-forward wardrobe. The classic suiting touches — including front pockets and notched lapels — and the waist-defining shape have a flattering effect for the female shape. An ivory colored blazer like this for spring is perfect for mastering the casual-cool edge with a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers for running around the city!
Alternative Options

Camel Blazer
You can’t do spring without a good camel blazer, and this one from MAYSON is perfection. Designed with a relaxed, boyfriend-inspired silhouette, a pared-down lining and super-luxe, fluid fabric, this closet staple is perfect for a low-key look in jeans (or jean shorts) and a t-shirt, or even thrown over a sundress.
Alternative Options

Denim Shacket
This is hands down my favorite denim layering piece that I’ve owned for years now and perfect for a spring capsule wardrobe. Sometimes, a denim jacket is a little too heavy for warm spring weather, which makes this lighter shacket the perfect in-between. I also love the faded wash for a transitional spring piece. This shacket features drop-shoulders and a rounded hem for a more casual, flattering drape, and it’s under $200. I sized up to a medium so it would be more relaxed. Also available here.
Alternative Options

Cropped Trench Coat
Cropped trench coats are popular right now, and for good reason. They provide the chic, put together vibe of a full-length trench but with a more casual approach that reads more as a blazer or little jacket. This one from Banana Republic has all the classic trench coat details: notched collar, double breasted closure, and storm flaps.
Alternative Options

Leather Lady Jacket
This season, I’m trading in my classic leather moto jacket for a leather lady jacket. The lady jacket is a fresh take on the iconic bomber jacket and is much more femme forward. The slim-fit silhouette and absent collar is a more gentle approach to the leather jacket look, but still delivers the right amount of edge. It’s also incredibly lightweight, in a good way, making it perfect for the season.
Alternative Options

Camel Vest
Vests are still very much in this season, and this camel vest top by MAYSON the label is a great option. Made in polished-yet-lightweight twill with a slightly relaxed silhouette, this vest pairs well with everything from its matching camel blazer and trousers to denim. The best part? It has a black belt you can adjust for that nipped-waist look!
Alternative Options

White T-Shirt
This classic tee by Theory is the Goldie Locks of t-shirts: not fitted, not oversized, but just right. There’s a time and place for slim fit tees and boxy tees, but any solid spring capsule wardrobe needs a simply solid t-shirt that looks great on its own or as a layer. This is that!
Alternative Options

Black Sweater
I am a sucker for short sleeve sweaters during the spring. I like how they’re a step up from a t-shirt but not a dressy blouse. This one made from merino wool is ribbed for texture and looks so chic in black. A short sleeve sweater is perfect as a transitional workwear piece for the spring season and looks good in-office or on a patio after work.
Alternative Options

Blue Shirt
Every spring wardrobe needs a classic button-up shirt in French Blue. This one from MAYSON is not oversized, nor relaxed — it’s just a perfectly classic fit that sits just right. Made from 100% cotton, it offers a clean, feminine foundation for any outfit whether you wear it on its own, or pair it underneath one of our blazers or the denim shacket.
Alternative Options

Grey Cardigan
A simple gray cardigan can do a lot for a spring capsule wardrobe when it’s the right fit and style. This one by J.Crew is made from their trademarked Tencell lyocell and is slightly cropped to flatter the female figure. I love how lightweight it is, making it easy to throw on over a white tee with jeans and sneakers for an impossibly adorable spring afternoon look.
Alternative Options

White Sweater
Have you shopped at Quince yet? You must! It really is as good as all the podcast ads say, and I’m especially obsessed with this 100% organic cotton boyfriend crew sweater. It earned a spot in this year’s spring capsule wardrobe because of how gorgeous, comfortable, and versatile it is. It’s a perfect springtime layering piece and looks great draped over your shoulders or tied crossbody to be on-trend.
Alternative Options

Black Shorts
When you want something a little more elevated or different from your typical jean shorts, these trouser shorts from MAYSON the label are the ticket. Designed with a high waist and slightly longer length, the shape is designed to be comfortable without showing too much leg, while the clean waistline, belt loops and hidden zipper nod to classic suiting. I plan to spend this spring/summer wearing these with tees, tanks and sandals!
Alternative Options

White Skirt
I never thought I’d see the day when skorts were back in fashion, but they are and I love this white one from Banana Republic. I especially like that it’s a cotton-linen blend, which means it’s extremely breathable for spring and summer. The Iced Vanilla is a clean white that would look adorable with a tucked-in tee, blazer, and either sandals or sneakers! If the skort isn’t for you, you can easily swap with a skirt to get the same style.
Alternative Options

Camel Trousers
An elemental signature of the MAYSON collection, the Wide Leg Trouser Pant features a high waist, and wide (but not too wide) leg that elongates and flatters every shape. The ultra-luxe twill features a beautiful drape and ultra-lightweight feel, for an effect that’s polished but not precious or dressy. I love wearing these with a t-shirt and sneakers! Note: MAYSON the label trousers are designed with a longer inseam to account for tall sizes or pairing with heels, but they can easily be hemmed for a shorter leg.
Alternative Options

Ecru Jeans
White jeans are infamously hard. That’s why instead of featuring white denim in this spring capsule wardrobe, I’m focusing on Ecru. Ecru is a lovely warm neutral that reads ivory. I haven’t decided which pair of Ecru jeans I’ll be adding to my personal wardrobe yet, but I have several bookmarked to consider: Apiece Apart, SLVRLAKE, and PAIGE.
Alternative Options

Straight Leg Denim
The jeans I’m loving for spring this year are what I’m referring to as a unicorn jean: not skinny, not flare, not bootcut, but not slouchy either. I want something slightly fitted that falls into a longer straight leg and lays just so at my feet. Pictures will do my description more justice so here are three styles I’m strongly considering adding to my spring capsule wardrobe: Khaite, ANINE BING, and Nili Lotan.
Alternative Options

Black Belt
You’ve probably seen this Khaite Benny leather belt everywhere, (I can’t stop wearing it), and it’s for good reason — because it’s incredible and literally adds exactly what you need to any look. It’s classic yet unique with its slightly oversized buckle, and looks amazing looped through jeans or shorts and especially around a springtime midi dress to accentuate your waist. Worth every dime.
Alternative Options

Ivory Handbag
This Toteme handbag is a dream. It’s a top-handle bag that comes with a removable shoulder strap so you can carry it both ways. The milk color is a gorgeous cream that screams spring and summer. It’s such a gorgeous, classic bag and the perfect size, too.
Alternative Options

Black Handbag
I will never not include the Teen Jodie bag by Bottega Veneta in a capsule wardrobe. It’s just so versatile and perfect, and if you’re going to invest in one handbag that can span all seasons, this is it. The Black Silver is what I own, and I use it weekly!
Alternative Options

Ivory Sandals
Love these incredibly minimalistic but classy cream sandals for spring and summer. The round toes and barely-there straps make these highly feminine and easy to wear with literally anything. Pair them with shorts, jeans, trousers, or a midi skirt/dress with ease.
Alternative Options

Mesh Flats
You’ve probably been seeing mesh ballet flats everywhere. They’re extremely “in” this season and surprisingly so comfortable. I love this simple pair by Le Monde Béryl. They’re so lightweight, sleek, you’ll forget you’re even wearing shoes, which is a welcome sensation in warmer weather!
Alternative Options

Black Sandals
For when you wish you could wear flip flops, but need something literally and figuratively elevated, these Toteme Flip Flop Heeled Sandals are the answer. They’re extremely versatile and look good with just about anything. The square toe is on trend, and I love just how easy they are to slip on and off. This pair of sandals instantly upgrades your look without you having to really try, and we love that!
Alternative Options

White Sandals
Of course, your spring capsule wardrobe needs a white heeled sandal as well, and I love these by Tony Bianco. The thin straps are so chic, and the pointed toe is flirtatious in the best way. These will look fabulous paired with a dressier dinner or fancy brunch look!
Alternative Options

Neutral Sneakers
Of course, my spring capsule wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a pair of neutral, versatile sneakers, and this beige/white color combo in the iconic adidas Sambas are perfection in every sense of the word. They are a no-brainer, and I can’t wait to wear them every chance I get this spring and summer!

Beige Vest
Menswear-inspired vests are making a serious comeback. Yes, vests! We saw the return of the sweater vest during the fall/winter season as it basically ran the streets of the city during New York Fashion Week, and it has found its way into the impending spring/summer season as well. This layering piece that’s typically reserved for a man’s three-piece suit has been separated from its other two pieces and is being worn on its own by the most fashionable of fashionable. I love how versatile a short, sleeveless vest is, with the ability to elevate your typical jeans and a tee look or even add an edgy twist to your wide-leg pants.
Sleeveless Black Blazer
It’s not just short vests making a comeback, either. Longer vests or sleeveless blazers are popping up everywhere as a more breathable, attention-grabbing substitute to the classic long sleeve blazer. This is music to my ears because the long, sleeveless vest look was a Fashion Jackson favorite way back in the day, and I’m ready to resurrect the trend.
Beige Oversized Blazer
I couldn’t build this capsule without including one of my go-to springtime essentials: the oversized beige blazer. Whereas your trusty black blazer may look and feel too heavy over a sundress, a beige blazer adds the perfect bit of sophistication while still keeping things light. The key here is keeping it oversized. Slouchy/relaxed can still look polished as long as you keep the proportions right with the bottom half of your look. It’s a very worthy and functional spring capsule wardrobe essential.
Black Lady Jacket
Just the name of this piece makes me smile because it’s so proper and feminine. Lady jackets are typically made of tweed but can be found in other knit varietals (like this cotton bouclé), are a cropped length so they hit around or right below your waistline, button down, and have a certain structure that can make any woman wearing one look impossibly put together. Instead of a jean jacket or blazer, a lady jacket is a sophisticated alternative that you can wear to class-up your look or wear it in a more updated, edgier way.
Boxy Denim Jacket
Denim jackets are never not in style. Ever. Rather, they refresh themselves every year and this year’s popular denim jacket look is oversized and slightly cropped like this one from ANINE BING. The versatility of a denim jacket is boundless, and I love finding new outfits to wear mine with every season. This year especially, don’t be timid about pairing your denim jacket with denim—the Canadian Tuxedo look can be one of the coolest outfits when done right!
Long Trench Coat
Another timeless springtime layering piece is the trench coat. The key to buying the perfect camel trench coat for spring is all about the length—always opt for longer over shorter. Your trench coat should fall below your knee to achieve the most iconic and chic look possible, like this perfect example by MANGO. You can treat it as a layering piece or make it the focal point of your outfit by wearing it casually over just a t-shirt—either way, there’s no arguing the stylish nature of a trench!
Relaxed White T-Shirt
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect, “cool girl” white-tee and finally found it in time for this spring capsule wardrobe. The key with a relaxed white t-shirt is all in the sleeves. A longer short-sleeve exudes casual coolness rather than the typical fitted sleeve, which means this shirt does well on its own and doesn’t need any layering or extra help. We’re going for relaxed and approachable with this plain white t-shirt rather than appearing too buttoned up. Spring is all about feeling fresh and open to newness, after all!
Fitted Grey Long Sleeve Tee
We all need one long-sleeve, fitted but breathable shirt for Spring, and this one by Three Dots is exactly that. While the weather is still in its transitional phase and there’s a slight chill in the air (especially at night), having a solid layering piece like this long-sleeve gray tee is crucial for your springtime wardrobe. Plus, the fitted silhouette works perfectly underneath trench coats, lady jackets, denim jackets, and blazers!
Denim Shirt
Remember the chambray shirt craze back in the 2010s? Well, it’s back but not necessarily in the same color. True denim button downs are trending and really always been a classic in my book, so it felt right to include them in this season’s capsule wardrobe. You can get super creative when styling denim shirts whether you do denim-on-denim, denim with linen, or denim with the right kind of skirt! The key to keeping this updated and looking modern is to pay attention to the details in the shirt. Look for lighter weight denim fabrics, like tencel, opt for tortoise buttons vs. pearl snap. Think timeless styling details instead of western details.
Striped Button-Up Shirt
I’ve featured both a white button-up and a blue button-up in past capsules, so it was only a matter of time before a striped button-up made its way onto the scene. This one by A.L.C. has an asymmetrical hem and accomplishes that relaxed yet still polished look. The gorgeous bright blue, and the clean white stripes make this the kind of button-up you can wear with all kinds of bottoms and with or without jackets this spring!
Cropped Cardigan
This is, hands down, the perfect cardigan for spring. The almond color is such a soft neutral and pairs well with any and every color, so there’s no end to the outfits you can create. Wear it on its own, draped over your shoulders with the relaxed white t-shirt, or even the trench coat. Plus, this cardigan is sustainably-crafted and a part of the Eco Group, which means it’s crafted using materials and practices that are better for your wardrobe and the planet.

Striped Sweater
Nothing is more classic than a black and white striped sweater, especially for the Spring. This 100% cotton sweater features mid-weight black stripes to add a bit of personality without being too distracting and looks so good with jeans and flats, or even shorts with your favorite white sneakers! I particularly love wearing this style sweater in a cross-body tie to accomplish that effortless, cool girl look.

Denim Midi Skirt
When it’s still not warm enough to show off your legs but you need a serious change of scenery from your jeans, a long denim skirt with a front-slit is the perfect springtime option. It’s the right blend of everything: feminine, playful, casual, and versatile. When styled right (think: tank top, striped sweater tied cross-body, and Birkenstocks), it’s one of the chicest looks you can create! When looking for the perfect denim midi skirt, I suggest ordering 2 sizes. I have found they can run a little small and to achieve the right look, you don’t want the skirt tight. Comfortable is how it should fit. Every denim midi skirt I tried this season, I always preferred a size up (but I liked having both sizes to compare and make the best decision).
Slouchy Jeans
It’s wild to think how far we’ve come since the skinny jeans. First came straight legs, then came flares, and now we’re leaning into baggy/relaxed denim, and I’m here for it. You can do a true blue denim here or switch it up by going black like I did—the point is the oversized look. These particular jeans look amazing when paired with fitted tops, even if that means a white tank top with your lady jacket on top! Remember that the general fashion rule of thumb is tight on top, loose on bottom or vice versa. They can also be styled with every shoe featured in this capsule, so you have plenty of ways to wear these in a style that speaks to you!
Beige Trousers
Elevated cargo pants. I know—you thought you’d never hear that phrase in one of my capsule wardrobe guides, but here we are. I love cargos when they’re done right, and these trouser cargo pants are so right. There’s no end to how you can style them but for me personally, my mind goes all the way back to the short camel vest. These paired with that would make a killer look! You can get away with just about any light trouser style for spring by pairing it with the right accessories and top, and they’re a fabulous, elevated alternative for jeans at the office. Think of these as your traditional trouser, just with an elevated twist.
Ivory Trouser Shorts
I love denim shorts as much as the next person, but sometimes you want to elevate the look without sacrificing your shorts all together, and these linen shorts by ANINE BING are perfect for exactly that. Designed in a high-rise, flared leg silhouette with rolled hems for some extra detailing, the length is the key to how chic these shorts are. The color pairs with everything included in this capsule wardrobe so you have no shortage in creating spring forward looks based on these shorts!

This. Is. Brilliant.
Thank you!
Hi! Love the selection and how you manage to make everything be effortlessly chic. Really a huge fan!
Would you be able to write a review, mini vs micro celine belt bag, now that you have both sizes?
Because of you, I’ve been eyeing a taupe one for some time, but since I don’t have the possibility to see it, can’t decide which size to order online.
Thanks so much!!
This is amazing! Thank you for all the work and inspiration. I can’t wait to try to copy these awesome looks
I love this! Thank you so much for putting this together. I love checking capsules as I start my new season shopping. They’re great for inspiring and guiding new purchases. Have you considered adding affordable alternatives for the higher priced items? Ex I love the black handbag but the price isn’t in my budget.
This was an amazing and thorough post – thank you!
