Welcome to the newly updated (again) weekly Everyday FJ series. Here I'll be sharing a little bit of everything; home updates, life updates, travel plans, what I'm shopping for, Nashville spots I've tried, discount codes, and really anything from the week that you guys might be interested in. I got a lot of requests with what you would like to see here, and it is actually helping me for future blog posts. I wanted this series to just be a true "everyday FJ" anything and everything. As always thank you so much for your support and following along, I truly appreciate you all. If you have a question or request, fill out the contact form or follow along on Instagram and send me a DM.
In My Cart
I’m having a moment with white and didn’t realize it until I started curating items to share on today’s post!
I got this Open Edit sweater in white and love it so much. The square neck is chic and subtly flirtatious and is a perfect spring-forward transitional piece for your wardrobe. I plan to style it with jeans and heels for date night, and denim shorts and sneakers for a casual daytime look.
These white Levi’s are sitting patiently in my Shopbop cart. I’m 99% sure I’m going to be adding them to my collection because I’ve been in search of a perfect straight leg white jean, and I think these could be it! I also love how 501s fit, so I have high hopes. Shop a round-up of my favorite jeans here!
I’m also drooling over this white bag by Elleme. The woven design and gold-tone handle scream SPRING! and create the ideal springtime date night bag. It has a magnetic snap, which is always super handy, and has an optional strap in case you want to wear it crossbody or on your shoulder. Check out this collage to see some other springtime bags I have my eye on.
A recent out of character purchase for me are these platinum-plated cubic zirconia studs. I usually always go for the gold, but silver and platinum are trending, and I loved how the lighter metal made the CZ pop. I love the size and price on these studs so much!
The one non-clothing item I purchased lately is this extra thick mattress topper from Amazon. I have never been so excited to get into bed — this pillow top topper is what literal sweet dreams are made of! It is so comfortable, cooling, and has made our bed my favorite place to be. And it’s well under $100!
I put together some new Nordstrom arrivals for under $300 via this post, and of course, you can always shop my LTK for more!
Around Town
A few weekends ago, Will and I met some friends at a new Nashville restaurant called Margot Cafe and Bar and LOVED it. It’s French influenced with southern flair, and it was not only gorgeous but delicious. Highly recommend checking it out to any locals!
More recently, though, I made a trip to Dallas to see friends, do some work, and attend some appointments. I miss Dallas food and always am sure to hit up my favorites when I’m in town: R&D (the crispy chicken sandwich and pressed sushi are to die for), Sasa Sushi, Hudson House (had their famous cheeseburger for the first time and will never be the same), and a Dallas classic, Mi Cocina.
On top of seeing my girl Bethany from Beauty Arts (I tried a new treatment I’ll share soon), I spent a lot of downtime on my best friend’s couch playing Mahjong (and even won a round!), and met up with my longtime friend and writer EMMASTHING (who has a great Substack letter you should read!) at a super cute store and coffee shop called Koneko.
Content I'm Loving
Movies:
Will and I have started something where we’re watching all the 90s/early 2000s classics. We try and pick one neither of us have seen, which doesn’t always work out, but it’s such a fun weekly tradition we’ve started. So far, we’ve watched Good Will Hunting, A Time to Kill, Shawshank Redemption, Moneyball, and Gladiator. Comment on this blog post and let me know what your favorite movie from this time period is so we can add it to our list!
TV:
I just binged the new Netflix UK thriller, Fool Me Once. Sometimes Harlan Coben series can be a little cheesy IMO and while this series definitely had some of that, I really enjoyed it. I thought the plot and story-telling was great, and I absolutely loved the main female character played by British actress Michelle Keegan. She’s so stunning, and her style in the show was great! I already started another one of his shows, Safe, which I’m really loving too!
Music:
Music-wise, my go-to station is Alt-J radio on Pandora (yes, I know I’m maybe the last person on Earth to still use Pandora, but I love it!). Because I know most people use Spotify, here’s a link to the same station there.
Books:
Honestly haven’t had time for books in a WHILE, I really want to get back into reading though. If you are interested, my latest list of books I’ve read is linked here!
At Home with FJ
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect faux or real tree for our formal dining room. I just can’t seem to find what I want, but I’m going to keep looking. Currently I have this fiddle as a placeholder; we’ll see what I end up deciding. Meanwhile, though, I’m not over the trunk we found at the antique garden show. It’s just so beautiful and I’m so happy we bought it for our formal living room — it belongs there!
The other weekend, I used this amazing steam cleaner on our bathroom and spent hours making it shine from top to bottom. I can’t recommend it enough — the way it cleans grout and tile is mind-blowing, and it’s chemical-free, too. It’s absolutely worth the investment and actually way cheaper than getting your bathrooms professionally cleaned!
I’m still basking in the reward of doing my annual closet cleanout in January. Check out this detailed blog post for my tips and tricks on how to approach a closet purge!
Coming Up
MAYSON the label just launched our 2024 spring collection, and I could not be more excited. This may be my favorite drop to-date; the new pieces offer a wide variety of gorgeous transitional pieces to bring you right into spring and beyond, and I can’t wait to see the response to them all. Shop the new collection here!
And, if you’re in the Denver area, I may be there soon for a MAYSON pop-up! Stay tuned for more details.
Will and I are trying to plan a destination trip to somewhere warm as soon as we can. We have a few ideas, but I’m already getting ahead of myself by shopping resortwear. I’m revisiting this blog post from last year about what to pack for a beach vacation, as well as checking out some of my past vacation collages in my LTK shop!
